Hidden Sugars that you didn’t know about in food.

Hidden Sugars that you didn’t know about in food.

Are hidden sugar finding there way into your diet without you know it? Let us help you discover a few seemingly healthy foods that have hidden added sugars too them to enhance their flavor.

Most of us have the assumption that food manufactures have our best interest at hart, but this is not always true as they will mark food as healthy when sometimes it’s far from it.

Let’s discover which healthy foods have added sugar to them.

When we think of smoothies, we always consider it to be a healthy drink, but after discovering this you might think differently. Some smoothies have as much as 40-80 grams of sugar. Some smoothie places add extra sugar to some of the fruit to help keep them fresh till they are being used to make smoothies, all these ads up to an enormous amount of sugar. I would recommend instead of buying a smoothie to rather make your own as you will then be sure that there is no added sugars.

I consume yogurt on a daily basis and love all the different types of yogurt. Unfortunately, most of the yogurt these days contain about 30 grams of sugar often in the form of high fructose corn syrup. Most people today assume that yogurt is healthy because it contains calcium, protein and probiotics. Unfortunately, the amount of sugar in these flavored yogurts are so high in sugar that it outweighs the good. We recommend the sugar free fat free yogurt whiles on our weight loss program.

Protein bars

These are most often marketed as healthy as it contains nuts and seeds that have beneficial qualities to them. But unfortunately, they are often full of honey, high fructose corn syrup and other sugar sources. Some of them can have anything from 10-30 grams of added sugar.

Tomato BBQ Sauces

Tomato sauce is a regular item in any household growing up, as it’s used for just about anything from eggs, burger, chips etc. But who knew that in as little as 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce you can easily get 9-10 grams of sugar?

BBQ sauce has even more sugar than tomato sauces weigh in at a whooping 12-15 of sugar per 2 tablespoons. Who would have ever though that Tomato and BBQ sauce would have this much sugar added to them?

Fruit Juice

This is the one I always warn people about, as some fruit juice have a higher sugar content than your regular gas cooldrinks. Although a glass of orange juice may contain 110% of your daily allowance of Vitamin C, but if you have not squeezed the orange juice yourself you could be looking at 22g grams of added sugar to only one glass of orange juice. This is the reason why I will never buy fruit juice from any store but rather make them myself as I then know what goes in there.

Salad Dressings

Most people just assume that salad dressing must be healthy as it is enjoyed with a very healthy salad. But this is where they are wrong, some of your salad dressing like French, thousand Island and even vinaigrettes have as much as 10-12 grams of sugar per 2 tablespoons of dressing. Even something as innocent like balsamic Vinegar has 5grams of sugar per 2 tablespoons. Skip the store-bought salad dressing and make your own salad dressing and know what is in there.

Whole Wheat Bread

I typically bought the whole wheat bread as I was always under the impression that it is so much healthier for you than your normal white bread. This is where we all go wrong, only 2 slices of whole wheat bread can raise your blood sugar more than 2 table spoons of sugar can. Many people believe that grain breads such as Ezekiel bread are good, but unfortunately these 2 are loaded with carbs that shoot up your blood sugar level.

Dried Fruit

Most people think that having a handful of raisins is a healthy snack. Many granolas also tend to have lots of dried fruit in them. These dried fruits are loaded with concentrated sugars, a quarter of a cup of raisins contains 29grams of sugar, nearly 6tsp of sugar now that is totally scary for something that is deemed as healthy

Nut Butters

We just all love nut butter, if it’s now peanut butter, almond butter or any of the other nut butter we all love them. Your typical jif of your favorite nut butter can have as much as 3-4 grams of added sugars. Even the organic nut butter has evaporated cane sugar in them.

This article just shows why we always say read the labels before just buying anything. No sugar is allowed on our weight loss program as it shoots up your insulin levels as it can halt your weight loss efforts. So next time you are purchasing any of these items please take in consideration what you have just read as this can make a big difference on your weight.
